I have never been so proud to be a part of a small town as I have been over this last week. In this last week we have had old friends, volunteers, customers, family, sales reps and people from afar doing everything they could to help us re open and get back on our feet. Thank you’s don’t seem like enough right now. There is ,without a doubt, no way we could be opening on Monday without all the help. We will be open in time for Small Business Saturday, November 30th, and I feel like the local support for that day is nothing compared to the support we got during this time of need. We will not forget the things that this community has done for us; the people that brought us coffee and lunch, or the folks that donated the batteries and cleaning supplies at the church or the group of people that came and re stacked all of the mulch in our parking lot after it blew 2 lots down, the fellas that came in and recovered a greenhouse so we would have a place to work during Christmas and the guys that untangled and put our fence back up. These people along with the all of the ones that aren’t mentioned but showed up and helped and just cared have really made us grateful to live in this town. We won’t forget it and hope that we can continue to repay our thanks to the community one way or another.
This picture is perfect.
Here is a sneak peek of some of our new Christmas decor.
On Sunday, November 17th we found ourselves in the path of one of the many tornadoes that hit Illinois. We were unharmed during the storm, however our property was severely damaged. We lost a number of structures and all off our growing greenhouses. Over the next few months we will be working diligently on clean up and repair work for the upcoming 2014 spring season. We will be closed to assess damages and get started on clean up and making things safe for the upcoming Christmas season. We do plan on being open for the season as of right now. As more information and timelines become available I will pass the information on. For right now our phone line is down so the best line of communication is to email us at email@example.com and I will personally get back to you.
As most of you know my family, we would like to thank everyone for their continued support. Over the past few years the local community has stood by us and we want people to know that we appreciate it and hasn’t gone unnoticed. Many of you have asked what you can do to help; we ask that you support the community, the local businesses and pass on the word that we are not closing.
Second and third generation replacing our sign that was torn down in the tornado.
We recieved a fresh load of bird seed in today. You can get it in bulk or in different sized bags. We have mixes for some of the most popular birds in our area.
Check out the newest plant at Sunshine. These Basil trees made their debut at the plant trials this year and are really cool. Not many plants stop me in my tracks and make me place a order as fast as this did. I planted one in an indoor miniature garden (for a shade tree) here at the store and in 7 weeks it will be. These are going to be great Christmas gifts for the cook, gardener, plant lover or anyone that likes something different. We are taking pre orders here at the store but they won’t be ready to go home with anyone for a few weeks. Stop in, take a peek and reserve yours today!
